Annual Members’ Day
Experience a delightful deep dive during this once-a-year event geared specially for members. This exclusive opportunity features talks by Mia curators, art-making activities, and special-access tours you won’t want to miss. The afternoon closes with a town-hall meeting and a chance to greet Mia’s newest curators.

1:15–2:15PM Session A
- Coffee with a Curator: Get a sneak peek at upcoming exhibitions: Tom Rassieur, Mia’s John E. Andrus III Curator of Prints & Drawings, and collaborating curator for “Martin Luther: Art and the Reformation” (October 30, 2016–January 15, 2017) and Gabriel Ritter, Mia’s new curator of Contemporary Art, on “Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters” (February 26–May 21, 2017)
- Art-Making Activity: Nature Print Totes: Inspired by “Seeing Nature,” we’ll use natural materials (leaves and flowers) as our printmaking tools to create one-of-a-kind farmer’s market-ready tote bags.
- Scent Tour of “Seeing Nature”: Explore gorgeous landscapes with the added dimension of coordinated scents. See where your nose takes you on this unique experience.
2:30–3:30PM Session B
- Focus on Asian Art: Preview Mia’s upcoming emphasis on Asian art with Matthew Welch, Deputy Director and Chief Curator, and Karleen Gardner, Director of Learning Innovation
- Art-Making Activity: Hand-Painted River Rocks & Terrariums: We’ll manipulate natural materials to make a dimensional painting, and creating sculptural arrangements of living materials you can take home with you.
- Tours with a Twist! Explore incredible art with a few unexpected twists.
3:45–4:30PM Session C
Town Hall Session: Meet Mia’s new curators and engage in a dynamic conversation with members of Mia’s Leadership Team, followed by a Q&A.
