David Goldblatt ǀ New Pictures 10: Arnold Newman Lecture on Contemporary Photography

Internationally renowned photographer David Goldblatt, making his first appearance in Minnesota, discusses “New Pictures 10, David Goldblatt: Structures of Dominion and Democracy in South Africa,” an MIA exhibition featuring his 50-year exploration of the troubled history of race relations in his home country of South Africa. Goldblatt’s photographs ask a compelling question: What social conditions and structures (monuments, landscapes, roads, buildings) have made both apartheid and democracy possible? An exhibition opening will be held following the talk in the Linda and Larry Perlman Gallery (368) and African Galleries (254.)

$10; $5 for MIA members. Free for members of the Photography & New Media, African & Contemporary Art Affinity Groups. To register, call (612) 870-6323.

Generous support provided by the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.
