Hands-on Art History: Poets and Painters

Who were the Chinese literati?  What did they think about painting?  What type of paintings did they create?  In this class, we will examine ideas concerning the Chinese “literati” artist-scholars and paintings associated with them.  After a talk by Dr. Elizabeth Kindall, Associate Professor at University of St. Thomas, we’ll have wine and snacks; then you’ll have an opportunity to try your hand at Chinese brush painting and calligraphy with the help of award-winning painter and teacher Yudong Shen.

$35; $28 My Mia members. Includes all materials and refreshments. Tickets are available online or by calling 612.870.6323.
