Hope Beyond the Wall: Sounds from Exile: A Collaborative Performance Series presented by MacPhail Center for Music and the Minneapolis Institute of Art

Inspired by the recently restored triptych Blind Man’s Buff, created by Max Beckmann while in exile in Holland between 1937 and 1947, this concert explores the creative energy generated by the atmosphere in Europe during and after the war. This is the second program in a series of three Collaborative Performance Concerts featuring MacPhail teaching artists  Joey Clark, Nina Fan, Daniel McIntosh, Nina Olsen, Tom Pletscher, Momoko Tanno, and Francesca Tortorello. The pre-concert talk will be given by Erika Holmquist-Wall, assistant curator and provenance specialist in the MIA’s paintings department.

Pre-concert talk: 1 p.m. in the Friends Community Room.

Generous support provided by the Dr. Werner and Elizabeth Simon Music Fund.
