The influence of the fine arts is obvious in the work of Jody Williams, a prolific publisher of artists books under the imprint Flying Paper Press. Less obvious, as she relates in this talk, is the influence of libraries, books, and research.
Williams’s books are in numerous museum and library collections. In 2008, she received the inaugural Minnesota Book Artist Award, and in 2013 she was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant. She clearly remembers learning to write her name at age 4 in order to get her own library card, and her passion for books eventually led to making them herself.
