Mary Griep ǀ The Artist Is In

Whether you’re a doodler, a draftsperson, or somewhere in between, pick up a pencil and get drawing. Mary Griep will be on hand for informal drawing demonstrations, gallery talks, lessons, and to share her personal philosophy of drawing.

A drawing is a record of your perceptions — a picture of the inside of your head. Why is it so hard to reproduce the kind of vision the camera records?  Why don’t all drawings look like those of the “Old Masters?”  Were the old masters better at perceiving the world?  What kinds of drawings are made by “New Masters”?

Mary Griep works as a Professor of Art and Associate Dean of Fine Arts at St. Olaf College. Her drawings and paintings have been shown nationally and internationally. http://www.marygriep.com/

All ages and levels of experience welcome. Included with exhibition admission.
