Sketching in the Galleries: Creating Implied Mass

Implied weight, or mass, is critically important in communicating representational subject matter in a convincing way. It is the depiction of form in space in the presence of gravity. How does the draftsperson go about doing this? We will discuss cast shadows and blocking techniques to convey mass. Students will draw from works in the Baroque Galleries.
