Sketching in the Galleries: Exploring Implied Space—Overlapping & Vertical Placement

Two additional methods of creating implied space on the flat picture plane, overlapping and vertical placement, are used in both Western and Eastern art. We will discuss their use and how overlapping influences the drawing process itself. Students will draw from works in the Asian galleries.
