Sketching in the Galleries – Light and color – Exploring color temperature

One of the first steps in studying color is developing the ability to see color temperature in nature, art, and design. Understanding and applying cool and warm colors effectively creates both implied volume and space. We will discuss color temperature and ways of helping one see and use this in the drawing process. Students will draw in oil pastel or color pencil from works in the permanent collection.
