Sketching in the Galleries: Principles of Design, Rhythm & Repetition

Rhythm is measured movement in time. Artists create rhythms in their work through a variety of devices, most often repetition of one of the visual elements. Discovering a work’s rhythm gives us a deeper appreciation of the work and insights into its meaning. Creating this in our own drawings is important and powerful. We will explore ideas and applications of rhythm in this class.
