Sketching in the Galleries: The Role of Subject

Art involves the interrelationships among subject, form, and content. Subject is the starting point for the viewer, and often for the artist as well. This class will discuss and define subject matter and its role in the creation and viewing of artworks. Students will draw from works in the MIA’s permanent collection.
