Talk: Jane Austen Today

Each year, the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) draws Austen fans—“Janeites”—together to celebrate the author’s legacy and immerse themselves in the sights, tastes, costumes, and sounds of Regency England.

Gina King, curator of the Jane Austen Reading Room at Mia, will screen her short documentary about the JASNA 2015 meeting in Louisville, Ky., which provides a window into the world of Jane Austen experts and super-fans. Afterward, take part in a lively conversation to explore why Austen and her work continue to inspire and enjoy light refreshments.

Stick around for a special 20th-anniversary screening of Clueless, the modern retelling of Emma starring Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd. Make sure you also visit the Jane Austen Reading Room on the third floor while you’re here.

Tickets to the program are free, but advance reservation is recommended.
