SOLD OUT ‘Vacation Work’: The Landscapes by Gustav Klimt

Austrian artist Gustav Klimt is the most widely renowned painter of turn-of-the-century Vienna. His 1907 “golden style” depiction of Adele Bloch-Bauer, the subject of the 2015 film Woman in Gold, is arguably his most famous work. But Klimt was also an extraordinary landscape painter; his landscapes were painted purely for pleasure during his summer holidays. This talk will discuss Birch Forest, one of Klimt’s most important examples in this genre, in the context of the artist’s life and career.
