Valerie Steele: The Corset—Fashioning the Body

Picture of Valerie SteeleValerie Steele, director of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City as well as a fashion historian and curator, will offer us a fun, innovative, and academic perspective on undergarments for women through history. Steele, known as the “Freud of fashion,” is the author of “The Corset: A Cultural History,” which details findings from two decades of research. She will present her view of the corset and its role in women’s lives.
