Art in Bloom
2013-14 co-chairs: Julie Holland and Katie Remole
Produces the Friends spring fund-raiser, Art in Bloom, in cooperation with MIA staff. More than 60 volunteers manage floral artists, the AIB Garden Shop, speaker arrangements, and all special events during the four-day event in late April/early May.
2013-14 co-chairs: Linda Goldenberg and Jane MacKenzie (2013)
Produces the Friends autumn fund-raiser, Art Perchance, in cooperation with MIA staff. More than 30 volunteers manage art procurement, game set-up, and more for this one-night event in October.
2013-14 co-chairs: Barbara Edin and Jackie Tyson
Reviews proposed projects that will provide enriching opportunities for young people to experience and be inspired by the world of art.
2013-14 chair: Diane Skrien
Plans programs for the Friends membership, such as the Friends Book Club, special tours with MIA curators, or lectures by local artists.

Organizes, researches, and maintains the Friends’ historical information.

Plans and makes arrangements for coffees and luncheons that precede or follow the monthly Mary and Mark Fiterman Lecture series, presented by the Friends.

Promotes Friends membership to the community and processes new and renewing memberships.

Determines and plans the publicity and promotional needs of membership, special events and the lecture series. Seeks ways to promote the benefits and opportunities of Friends membership, and promotes Friends membership and events.
New Member Liaison
2013-14 chair: Toni DuFour
Contacts and welcomes all new members, informs them of Friends activities and opportunities, and plans special activities for new members.
2013-14 co-chairs: Patty McCullough and Barbara Scott
Edits the Friends newsletter, writing articles, conducting interviews, and compiling information as needed.
2013-14 chair: Carolyn Dahl
Responsible for preparing and presenting a slate of officers for the Friends board to be elected at the annual meeting. Chaired by the immediate past president of the Friends Board.
Plants and Flowers
2013-14 co-chairs: Tami Portmann and Melinda Pfohl
Arranges for interior flower arrangements and winter holiday décor at the MIA.
2013-14 co-chairs: Fran Megarry and Kay Miller
Plans the Mary and Mark Fiterman Lecture Series and manages speakers’ in-town itineraries.
Research and Planning
2013-14 chair: Martha Bordwell
Serves as a fact-finding, creative development, and study committee for the Friends. The committee also reviews Friends board guidelines, job descriptions, and policies and procedures. Chaired by the second vice president of the Friends board.
2013-14 chairs: Lin Stein and Joan Kampmeyer
Manages the disbursement of funds from the Friends Transportation Fund to cover transportation costs for metro-area children to visit the MIA for museum guide tours.
2013-14 chair: Terry Edam
Acts as the liaison between the Friends board and the Visitor and Member Services department, sharing news and information with the board-at-large.
2013-14 chair: Janice Anderson
Provides volunteers for MIA and Friends projects as requested.
