25th Annual Minneapolis Institute of Art
Antiques Show and Sale

October 24, 25 and 26, 2008

Minneapolis, July 15, 2008—This October the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) will present its 25th annual Antiques Show and Sale. This sale is the leading antiques show of its kind in the upper Midwest. Forty nationally renowned dealers offer a broad array of objects for purchase ranging from eighteenth-century English silver and nineteenth-century American folk art to twentieth-century Modernist design and everything in between. The show also features lectures, dealer talks, and tours for both experienced and novice collectors.

Since the MIA’s Decorative Arts Curatorial Council held its first show and sale in 1984, the show has raised more than $1.5 million for the purchase of significant works of art for the MIA’s department of Architecture, Design, Decorative Arts, Craft and Sculpture. Several of these acquisitions will be on display in the MIA’s Bell Decorative Arts Court in honor of the 25th anniversary of the show. To coincide with the show’s silver anniversary, the special exhibition “Beyond the Maker’s Mark: Paul de Lamerie Silver in the Cahn Collection” will be on view at the museum. Opening October 19, this exhibition presents the extraordinary work of London’s leading eighteenth-century silversmith, Paul de Lamerie.

Support for the Antiques Show and Sale provided by Northern Trust, Galleria, General Mills, JE Dunn, and Access Financial.
