Keep the following in mind:
- No Cash Accepted: Pay stations accept credit/debit cards only.
- Event Rates: Special event rates may apply during large museum events (such as Art in Bloom).
- No Overnight Parking: Vehicles left overnight are subject to towing.

Accessible Parking and Drop-Off Zone
Mia is fully barrier-free and accessible to all visitors.
- Handicap Parking Spaces: Designated accessible parking spots are located on Third Avenue, 24th Street, on the first floor of the covered parking ramp, and within the 24th Street and Third Avenue surface lot.
- Passenger Drop-Off: A convenient circular driveway is located at the main museum entrance on Third Avenue. This area is ideal for dropping off individuals with mobility limitations before parking.
School Bus and Group Parking
Here are important details if you’re arriving via bus or another large, multi-person vehicle:
- Passenger Drop-Off/Pick-Up: All tour and school buses must drop off and pick up passengers at the main circular drive on Third Avenue.
- Bus Parking: Free bus parking is permitted on 24th Street and other perimeter streets surrounding Washburn Fair Oaks Park. Spaces are unreserved and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alternative Ways to Get to Mia
Avoid parking entirely by using public transit or eco-friendly commuting options.
- Public Transit: Mia is located directly along Metro Transit Route #11. Multiple other transit routes pass within a few blocks of the museum campus. Use the Metro Transit Trip Planner to map your route.
- Bicycling: Bicycle racks are located near Mia’s main entrance on Third Avenue and on the first level of the covered parking ramp.
Parking Tips
- Security and Escorts: All official lots are monitored by security cameras and patrolled by Mia security personnel. Call boxes are available at surface lot exits. If you’d like a security escort to your vehicle, call 612-870-3225.
- Towing Policy: Unauthorized vehicles or those parked overnight will be towed at the owner’s expense by Wrecker Services (612-330-0013).
- Arrive Early: Give yourself plenty of extra time to park and walk, especially when attending scheduled lectures, ticketed exhibitions, or weekend tours.
