Policies and Procedures

The MIA welcomes meetings, retreats, receptions, and special events. The museum reserves the right to review special-event plans to ensure that they are compatible with the MIA’s mission. Please note that the museum is unable to host political activities, fund-raising events, religious ceremonies, proms, memorials, or any commercial functions. To safeguard the art, please note that red wine, candles, banners, balloons, and glitter/confetti are prohibited in the galleries. Cooking and the use of steam tables in the galleries is also not allowed.

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts welcomes you, your guests, and the professionals who will help capture your special event. To safeguard the art, a permit is required for any posed or commercial photography within the museum. A two-hour photography permit is available for purchase. To receive a copy of the permit application, please call (612) 870-3087.
