All Minnesotan artists are invited to attend the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP) Annual Meeting. Scheduled on the second Saturday of November, the MAEP Annual Meeting serves as a connection point between the program and the artistic communities of Minnesota. This is your opportunity to elect new panelists, hear about opportunities from across the state, and have your questions about the program answered.
Unique to the MAEP, exhibitions are selected by Artist Panel, which is composed of seven elected members chosen by the public at the MAEP Annual Meeting. The seven-member panel is entrusted with the responsibility of surveying the creative diversity of Minnesota artists and selecting applicants whose work shows exceptional promise and quality.
See below for more information about nominations for the Artist Panel.
Questions about MAEP? Contact Nicole Soukup, MAEP coordinator: email@example.com; 612.870.6362.
MAEP accepts nominations and self-nominations in advance of the annual meeting. Learn about each candidate’s skills, background, and experience before casting your vote. After the closing date all nominations will be collected and the nominees’ letters of support posted to this page and social media.
The following positions on the panel are open for nomination:
*One (1) Panelist from the seven county metro region to serve a two-year term.
*One (1) Panelist from Greater MN to serve a two-year term.
*One (1) Panelist from Greater MN to serve a one-year term.
All self-identified artists who currently live and work in Minnesota are eligible for nomination (except degree-seeking students and Mia staff). To make a nomination or self-nomination, send the candidate’s name, contact information, and a letter of support (see below).
Nominees must be present at the meeting to officially accept their nominations. Each candidate will be introduced and given an opportunity to make a brief 2-minute speech. Voting and ballot counting take place during the meeting and the election will be decided by a majority vote of the attendees.
When composing your letter, please address the following questions: Why are you nominating this individual for the panel? What specific skills can this candidate offer? Does the candidate have experience as a panelist or a juror? What is this candidate’s standing and position in the arts community? Describe his or her knowledge of the Minnesota arts community and contemporary art. Does he or she have any professional affiliations that would be perceived as a conflict of interest?
