Art School: Labor Camp Report for K-6 Students

Art School is in session! Join a Mia teaching artist each week for a drop-in art-making experience. We’ll explore works from Mia’s collection and create art using simple materials we can find around us. Each week’s session is designed with a particular audience in mind, but open to everyone! Sessions last approximately 45 minutes.

Exploring negative space and use of black and white, this month’s art school uses Piotr Szyhalski’s COVID-19: Labor Camp Report as inspiration. For these activities you will need black and white paper (any kind will work), other recycled black and white materials (yogurt lids, buttons, yarn, anything!) and a pencil or pen.

K – 6 teachers, students and their adults are invited to join Laura Wennstrom, who will lead you in an activity focusing on positive and negative space inspired by Piotr Szyhalski’s COVID-19: Labor Camp Report. You will need black paper, white paper, scissors, glue, and a pencil.
