Artist Talk: Meiro Koizumi

Working primarily in video and performance, Meiro Koizumi investigates the boundaries between the private and the public, between authentic and staged emotions. They often present everyday situations transformed into sites of tension, involving conflicts between duty and desire. In conjunction with Mia’s opening of “Meiro Koizumi: Battlelands”—the first time the artist has worked with non-Japanese subjects—Koizumi will screen a number of earlier works.

Meiro Koizumi’s selected solo exhibitions include the Pérez Art Museum Miami (2018), Kadist Art Foundation, Paris (2014), Museum of Modern Art, New York (2013), and the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2009).
