The 6th annual Be Heard MN youth poetry slam series seeks to identify six poets between the ages of 13-19 to serve as a cohort representing Minnesota in the international Brave New Voices youth poetry slam festival in July 2018. The program, produced by TruArtSpeaks, harnesses the social and cultural power of slam poetry to create a platform through which young people’s stories are validated and celebrated. Over the course of the Be Heard poetry competition, 100 youth will participate and discover a community that lifts them up and gives them space to voice the uncertainty, joy, outrage, and wonder that comes from finding your place in the world.

Mia is proud to be a partner for this Be Heard preliminary bout.  Click here for more information about the series and additional programs.

Admission is free and open to the public.
