Family Day: Play with Clay

January’s theme is Play with Clay. During Family Day weekend (January 8–9), pick up a free Family Day Artist Tote filled with clay, sculpting materials, and colorful additions. Join us at the museum as we explore the possibilities of clay, inspired by new exhibitions and fantastic works of art across cultures, continents, and time periods.

Free Family Day Artist Totes

During January’s Family Day weekend (January 8-9, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.), you can pick up a free Family Day Artist Tote that contains printmaking materials at Mia’s Third Avenue entrance.

Materials in the kit complement the Family Day program’s activities but are not essential to enjoying the activities.

Watch a How-to Video

Watch artist Adem Ojulu show us hand-building techniques at their studio. Adem is a clay artist living in Minneapolis. After taking an intro course with local artist Addis Alemu earlier last year, Adem began working with clay regularly. They are interested in exploring abstract forms and textures in functional pottery.
