Gallery Talk: Resistance, Protest, Resilience

Photographers Anna Min and Angela Jimenez will explore the ethical constructs of photojournalism, as well as the objectivity the viewer brings to an image. Together they ask the audience to consider: What does the photographic lens enable us to see, and what are we limited in seeing?

Artist Bios

Angela Jimenez is a freelance visual storyteller who works as a photojournalist, videographer and photo editor for the news media and for non-profit organizations. Her work focuses on subculture, social justice, gender/sexuality and the human body. Her second monograph, Racing Age (self-published January 2017) has been featured in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The New York Times and chosen for inclusion in American Photography 33.

Anna Min is a Minneapolis-based documentary photographer specializing in low-light performances and conferences. Over the last decade, Anna’s work has captured seminal moments in local history, for which Anna was named Macalester College’s Young Alumni of the Year in 2016. Broadly, Anna balances distributing public-oriented media while consulting and producing for some of Minneapolis’ most established events and organizations–challenging and advancing concepts of authorship, agency, authenticity, and leadership in media arts along the way.
