Hands-on Art History: Silk Road

Beginning in the dawn of the Common Era, the trade corridor known as the Silk Road became a conduit for the transfer of commodities, religion, technology, and scientific knowledge between China and the West. The world was transformed by the introduction of Chinese inventions, including paper, movable-type printing, gunpowder, and the compass, in addition to luxury goods such as silk, porcelain, tea, spices, and lacquer. Learn about the tremendous 2,000 years of cultural exchange between China and the West with Mia’s curator of Chinese Art, Dr. Liu Yang, while immersing yourself in tea and spices found along the Silk Road.

$35; $28 My Mia members. Includes all materials and refreshments. Tickets are available online or by calling 612.870.6323.
