Just as painters capture the likenesses of landscapes in their work, the prolific composer Franz Liszt evokes stunning Swiss landscapes and glorious Italian art and architecture with his dazzling Années de pèlerinage for solo piano. Hear pianist Richard Tostenson play excerpts from this masterwork, and then enjoy visiting Mia’s special exhibition, “Eyewitness Views: Making History in 18th-Century Europe.” Presented in partnership with MacPhail Center for Music.
The performance is free and open to the public; seating is first-come, first-served. Tickets to “Eyewitness Views” are $20 and available online or at the door.
Richard Tostenson is a teacher and performer. Locations of his recent solo piano performances include the Museum of Russian Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Basilica of Saint Mary, Thursday Musical, and MacPhail Spotlight Concerts. He regularly serves as a judge for competitions, such as for the Schubert Club, Thursday Musical, and Saint Paul Piano Teachers Concerto Competition. He has an MA in piano performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Presented by Mia and MacPhail Center for Music.
