Winter Break Art Kits, December 21-23

Designed by our qualified art instructors, Art Kits contain all the materials and instructions students will need to experience Mia’s studio classrooms, mailed to your home! Students will learn about masterpieces in Mia’s collection, work on basic art skills, explore self-expression through at-home activities, and receive virtual creative support from teaching artists. When registering, families will select either a morning or an afternoon session of each kit.

Ages 6-10:Creating Comics

About the instructor Fiona Avocado is a cartoonist, illustrator, zinester, and printmaker living and working in Athens, Ohio.

Ages 10-14: Zine Making

From tiny pamphlets to full publications, zines have a rich and exciting history. Study examples in Mia’s collection, then make your own personal zines. Led by instructor Graci Horne. To learn more and view class times, click here.

About the instructor Hapistinna (female given name; Dakota for third-born girl) Graci Horne was born and raised in Mnisota (Minnesota). Her bands are the Sisseton Whapeton Dakota people and Hunkpapa Lakota and Dakota people. She is a mixed-media artist—acrylic paint, ink, watercolor—and also creates works in photography, film, and poetry. Horne holds a degree in museum studies from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M. Her specialty is curation, exhibition planning, and instructing art-making workshops for people ages 2 to 100 years.
