All Minnesota artists are invited to attend the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP) Annual Meeting. These meetings are an opportunity to hear about MAEP activities over the past year, elect new members to the artist panel, and to network with the Minnesota arts community.
Information on the next annual meeting will be released in September.
The seven member artist panel are elected to two-year terms and meet quarterly to review proposals and select exhibitions. Each year, either 3 or 4 panelists rotate off the panel to allow room for a diversity of critical voices and include a variety of professional expertise. For more information about MAEP go to artsmia.org/maep.
MAEP accepts nominations and self-nominations in advance of the annual meeting. Learn about each candidate’s skills, background, and experience before casting your vote. After the closing date all nominations will be collected and the nominees’ letters of support posted on the MAEP Web site and social media.
Nominees must be present at the meeting to officially accept their nominations. Each candidate will be introduced and given an opportunity to make a brief 2-minute speech. Voting and ballot counting take place during the meeting and the election will be decided by a majority vote of the attendees.
All self-identified artists who currently live and work in Minnesota are eligible for nomination (except degree seeking students and MIA staff). To make a nomination or self-nomination, send the candidate’s name, contact information, and a letter of support (see below).
When composing your letter, please address the following questions: Why are you nominating this individual for the panel? What specific skills can this candidate offer? Does the candidate have experience as a panelist or a juror? What is this candidate’s standing and position in the arts community? Describe his or her knowledge of the Minnesota arts community and contemporary art. Does he or she have any professional affiliations that would be perceived as a conflict of interest?
