Senior Maintenance Mechanic

The Senior Maintenance Mechanic assists in the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance measures for building heating, humidity, cooling and temperature control systems and the maintenance and operation of central boiler and chiller plants. The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In this role, you will…

  • Operate and maintain steam boiler and chiller plants and related sub systems. Repair fans, motors, compressors, control systems and other mechanical components as required.
  • Work with the Mechanical Crew Chief closely to ensure all mechanical equipment is kept safe and up to code. Assist in carrying out all monthly, quarterly and annual preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain museum quality air, temperature and humidity requirements. Operate building automation and energy management systems (BAS, EMS).
  • Troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical HVAC control circuits, including testing, cleaning and calibrating.
  • Perform plumbing repairs throughout complex as needed.
  • Maintain and repair restaurant equipment including dishwashers, coolers, freezers, exhaust hood and other related equipment.

Specific Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and field related vocational education in HVACR or equivalent job experience. Universal Refrigerant Transition Certificate.
  • Valid Minnesota Chief “C” Boiler Engineer license and working knowledge of reciprocating and centrifugal chillers.
  • Working knowledge of building and energy management systems, electrical and pneumatic temperature/humidity control equipment, and electric and low voltage systems and controls.
  • Skills necessary to repair walk-in and reach-in coolers, freezers and refrigerators.
  • Ability to work weekends and be on 24/7 emergency call.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
