[suh-lon; French sa-lawn], noun
A gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation.

A finely crafted fund-raising event, Salon: An Evening with Friends, debuts at the MIA on Friday, November 14, 2014. Organized by the Friends of the Institute, the night will be centered around conversations facilitated by inspiring minds with expertise ranging from fashion design to architecture, painting to cuisine. These conversations feature creative minds such as Cynthia Rowley, Bibhu Mohapatra, and Robyne Robinson who will focus on the topic “What Drives Design.” The evening will stimulate lively chats, and be complete with a delicious dinner and music. Join us!
