Special Exhibition Accessibility

Welcome

Mia believes in making art accessible to all people. Inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility are among our core values, which are reflected by our trustees, staff, volunteers, and policies. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming space by removing barriers to participation, fostering an inclusive environment, and recognizing the wisdom, knowledge, and creativity within every community.

One artwork installation in When Home Won’t Let You Stay: Art and Migration invites visitors to pass through it.

To pass through Do Ho Suh’s Hub-1, Entrance, 260-7, Sungbook-Dong, Sunboo-Ku, Korea, and Hub-2, Breakfast Corner, 260-7, Sungbook-Dong, Sungboo-Ku, Seoul, Korea, visitors must remove bulky outerwear and bags or purses.
Maximum occupancy is two people, one person per Hub.
The entry and exit dimensions vary between Hub-1 and Hub-2:
Hub-1 entry: 60 inches
Entering Hub-2 from Hub-1: 31.5 inches
Entering Hub-2: 33.5 inches or 30.5 inches

Interior images and descriptions can be found here.

Sensory Notice

The artwork installation Let Us Pray for the Water Between Us features the beat of a rhythmic drum. This installation is located outside of the main exhibition space in Mia’s Bruce B. Dayton Rotunda (gallery 230) and can be heard throughout surrounding areas. This repetitive, moderately loud sound may be overwhelming to those with sensory sensitivities. Please speak with a Visitor Experience team member if you have any questions.

You can read more about Mia’s approach to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. If you experience accessibility issues while visiting Mia, please contact our Visitor Experience team at visit@artsmia.org or 888.642.2787 (Toll Free).
