Lake Harriet Kite Festival

Kites of all shapes, sizes, colors, and themes fly over frozen Lake Harriet/Bdé Umáŋ each winter. Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, East Harriet and Linden Hill neighborhoods host an annual winter celebration of this playful pastime.

The 2021 Kite Festival will not take place on frozen Lake Harriet, Bdé Umáŋ this year due to COVID 19. Instead we invite you to take a virtual walk through the Minneapolis Institute of Art and enjoy these activity sheets based on the art of Utagawa Hiroshige, a Japanese ukiyo-e artist. Many more of his works can be found on Mia’s website. Click here to explore more of his works.
