The History of Art in Bloom
The History of Art in Bloom
Mia’s annual celebration of spring, art and fresh flowers began in 1983, when Phyllis Colwell, president of Mia’s volunteer organization, Friends of the Institute, attended Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Upon her return, she persuaded Mia’s then-Director, Sam Sachs, and the Friends board to bring the event to the Twin Cities.
