Education Volunteer Opportunities
Inspire wonder through the power of art by engaging visitors in guided activities in Mia’s galleries.
Mia offers multiple volunteer opportunities to meet the needs of our community. The applications for current opportunities is closed, but there will be more in the future for different types of education volunteers, including Discovery Days, school guides, and adult guides. We will update the website when applications for new opportunities are available.
The Volunteer Programs are:
- Discovery Days
- School Guides
- Adult Guides
About the Programs
Discovery Days volunteers facilitate object-centered discussions and hands-on activities for groups of K–5 learners at Discovery stations and in the galleries. They help encourage students to be curious and creative, and to make connections between global art and their own lives.
School Guides lead thematic tours from Mia’s Art Adventure series and permanent-collection Highlights tours. They help provide a positive museum experience for K–6 students and encourage return visits with friends and family.
Adult Guides lead thematic tours and facilitate in-gallery conversations focused on the permanent collection and special exhibitions for adult and university groups. They welcome visitors to explore and learn about the art, offer diverse perspectives, and make meaningful connections.
Interest Form for becoming an education volunteer
We appreciate your interest in Mia’s Education Volunteer Programs. While applications for current opportunities have closed, those who are interested in future opportunities should fill out the Interest Form. We will be in contact with updates every 6 months.
