A Dealer’s Perspective on Collectors & Collecting

The art market is treacherous, full of pitfalls for the unwary but exhilarating for those that are prepared for it. Collecting well is hard; it requires commitment, study, nerves, and above all passion. This is equally true for both the collecting of curators and that of private individuals. After a short talk, Errol Manners and Ghenete Zelleke will have a conversation and Q & A.

Based in London, Errol Manners is a dealer in European ceramics and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. He was chairman of The French Porcelain Society (2007–15) and serves on numerous vetting committees of international fairs, such as Tefaf Maastricht, Masterpiece London and The Biennale des Antiquaires, Paris. Ghenete Zelleke, is James Ford Bell Curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture and head of the Department of Decorative Arts, Textiles, and Sculpture at Mia.
