CANCELLED: Artist Talk with Sieng Lee

This event has been canceled.

Join us on Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. to hear current Minnesota Artist Exhibition Program (MAEP) artist Sieng Lee discuss his work.

For his exhibition, “Siv Yis and His Wooden Horses,” Lee collaborated with Wa Leng Lee, a a Hmong elder and renowned shaman, to create an installation that reflects a modern-day retelling of the story of Siv Yis, the first Hmong shaman. At its heart, Lee’s exhibition asks what people give up in order to assimilate into American culture.

Lee holds an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He is a recipient of the 2015 Jerome Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists, Minnesota States Arts Board. He was the lead exhibition designer of “We Are Hmong Minnesota” at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.
