Creating a Landmark, Honoring a Legacy: Bell Museum and Mia

UPDATE: Due to the extreme and unsafe weather conditions, Mia will be closed to the public on Thursday, January 31. We regret that the Friends of the Institute event, “Creating a Landmark, Honoring a Legacy: Bell Museum and Mia,” has been canceled for this date. We hope to reschedule the event, and will share information regarding a potential future date soon.

The Friends are pleased to announce an exciting evening featuring Bell Museum Executive Director Denise Young and architect David Dimond, design director of the Minneapolis studio of Perkins+Will. The pair will discuss the newly reopened museum’s unique design, challenges of the move (including the famous dioramas), the life-size woolly mammoth, and the museum’s natural history collection, along with additional new features.

Enjoy tours of objects in Mia’s permanent collection donated by the Bell family that demonstrate the natural history connection between the two museums. A reception featuring wine, beer, and appetizers is included. Tickets are $75, including tax and gratuities. Proceeds from this event will allow the Friends to fulfill our mission of supporting, enhancing, and sustaining the collections and programs of Mia.
