Free Arts Minnesota Youth Exhibit & Reception

Markings: High Art, Low Tech

Graffiti and Street Art Display

Through the generosity of an Arts Learning grant awarded by the Minnesota State Arts Board, Free Arts Minnesota and Mia partnered to provide youth with a hands-on street art series led by Twin Cities graffiti collective Rogue Citizen. This eight-week summer program, “Markings: High Art, Low Tech,” included a trip to Mia and image reproduction workshops where teens learned about the work of local, national and international street artists. The teens also learned hand lettering, stencil-based painting, screen-printing techniques, and how to incorporate printed imagery into collaborative murals.

The final pieces from the program are displayed in the Community Commons gallery. A public reception will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6-8 pm.
