Friends Lecture: Max Bryant
Max Bryant, Mia’s James Ford Bell Associate Curator of European Decorative Arts and Sculpture, presents “The Tapestry of the Meeting of Dante and Virgil (1547–49) by Francesco Salviati.”
One of Mia’s 2026 highlights will be the display of this remarkable tapestry, unseen since the 1950s. Woven in Florence at the workshop founded by Cosimo de Medici, the tapestry has recently undergone conservation, generously supported by The European Fine Arts Foundation (TEFAF) and Bank of America. It will be featured in an exhibition opening this July. Bryant will explore the tapestry’s artistic significance and the fascinating story of its conservation.
