Intergenerational Family Art Encounter: Mailing Portraits

This is a virtual class.
Registration opens February 11. Registration closes on March 25 at 10AM.
Given the constraints of maintaining social distance, many families have been unable to visit one another in person. This class is designed to help create connections across distance through art! Grandparents or caregivers are encouraged to sign up (virtually) with their grandchildren. (Activities are geared towards children 5-8, but can be modified for younger/older ages.) Led by teaching artist Alison Bergblom Johnson, participants will spend time looking at art together, and then spend time making portraits of each other. Each project is designed to be mailed to loved ones. Alison Bergblom Johnson work includes storytelling, creative nonfiction, installation, and collage. She’s worked with Patrick’s Cabaret, the Walker Art Center, COMPAS, and is a member of the Twin Cities Collage Collective.

$60 per family; includes one kit of art-making materials mailed to grandparent and one to grandchildren (please include BOTH addresses at check out); $30 per additional household of grandchildren.
