MAEP Artist Talk: Beth Dow

Learn more about Beth Dow’s MAEP exhibition, “Prediction Error.” The artist will discuss her recent work and how it relates to the theory of prediction error. Part of September’s Third Thursday, join us to experience Mia’s diverse art collection through unique programs, drinks, and live music.

“Prediction Error” is a series of photographs that use regional terrains and simple interventions to tread cautiously into that gray area where we waver between attraction and repulsion. These large, dark photographic landscapes confine viewers and challenge our fears, asking us to confront what we think we understand.

Dow is interested in examining the ways in which we shape and experience our environment, and is especially interested in how we use photography to mediate that experience. She received a BA in studio art from St. Olaf College and an MFA in photography from the University of Minnesota.

This exhibition is part of the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program, located in U.S. Bank Gallery.
