This December, Mafic Ocean and Mia partner for a series of three immersive experiences surrounding “Paris Couture.” Enjoy talks, performances, hands-on creation, and much more, all with some of Minnesota’s most fashion-forward experts.
About Mafic Ocean
Mafic Ocean is a Minneapolis design and fabrication studio creating conceptually driven installations, environments, and specialty spatial elements. The studio grew out of a collaboration that began in the underground rap and punk scenes of the late 1990s and early 2000s, and later expanded into immersive installations, short films, electronic and orchestral music, and contemporary art. Creating the physical elements for that work led the group to develop its fabrication capabilities, which eventually became a central part of the studio. Today, Mafic Ocean works from a warehouse studio with a team that carries projects from first idea through installation.

What is the fashion of the future? Hear from Lucy Dunne from the U of M’s College of Design before getting digitally dressed (yeah, sort of like the Clueless closet). On the third and final night of Mafic x Mia, you’re the star. And so is Julia Starr, who models her handmade drag designs for a special studio project with Sophia Weisensel. Artist and costume designer Sonya Berlovitz dishes on her life in theater, both in Paris and Minneapolis. Enjoy live performances throughout the evening.
