Meet at Mia: Movie in the Park

Enjoy movies on the big (inflatable) screen in Mia’s Target Park, along with art making and food trucks. Movies will start at 8pm; please bring your own seating. In the event of inclement weather, we’ll screen the film in the Pillsbury Auditorium at 7p.m.; seats will be first come, first served.

May 23 Loving Vincent (95 min)
Loving Vincent brings the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh to life to tell his remarkable story. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil painting, hand-painted by 125 professional oil painters who travelled across the world to the Loving Vincent studios in Poland and Greece to be a part of the production. As remarkable as Vincent’s brilliant paintings is his passionate and ill-fated life, and mysterious death.

June 13 The Gospel According to André (94 min)
Esteemed African-American fashion editor André Leon Talley’s life and ascent in the fashion world is chronicled through interviews and archival footage. This documentary traces his career from his youth in the segregated South to his work at W and Vogue to his enduring influence today. Featuring interviews with fashion icons such as Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg.

July 18 Frida (118 min)
Best Actress nominee Salma Hayek stars as Mexican surrealist Frida Kahlo in this biopic, which chronicles her turbulent marriage to Diego Rivera, her political activism and the severe pain she experienced following a bus accident.

August 8 Kusama: Infinity (78 min)
Now the top-selling female artist in the world, Yayoi Kusama overcame impossible odds to bring her radical artistic vision to the world stage. For decades, her work pushed boundaries that often alienated her from both her peers and those in power in the art world. In spite of it all, Kusama has endured and has created a legacy of artwork that spans the disciplines of painting, sculpture, installation art, performance art, poetry and literary fiction. After working as an artist for over six decades, people around the globe are experiencing her installation Infinity Mirrored Rooms in record numbers, as Kusama continues to create new work every day.
