Sacred Salon: Mizna – Poems Are a Sacred Space
Poems create their own sort of sacred, textual space – of meditation, delight, intimacy, and power. Choose a piece from a pop-up library of Mizna’s Arab American literary journals, and through a self-directed activity put it into dialogue with the MIA’s Sacred exhibition as you meander among the artifacts.
Related to the series of “Sacred” exhibitions, Sacred Salons are participatory experiences exploring a wide range of ideas and practices related to the nature of the sacred within a secular, multi-faith society. Visitors are invited to explore historic expressions of the divine, the spiritual, the essential, the most-beloved, and to ponder the word’s meaning to their personal lives. Gather in level 1 of the Atrium of Target Wing.
