Sketching in the Galleries: Themes and Purposes of Art – Expressing Fantasy & Invention

Every work of art involves the use and application of imagination. Imaginative seeing and invention are key to the connections we make in great art. This class will look at historical examples of fantasy and invention in the visual arts with an emphasis on surrealism. Students will draw from modern and contemporary works in the museum.
