Studio Sessions are Mia’s art classes and workshops that offer experienced artmakers and curious novices alike the opportunity to create projects inspired by Mia’s collection and special exhibitions. Each Studio Sessions class features a different subject or medium to explore, and you’ll walk away with expanded knowledge and skills, plus a personal work of art. The only prerequisites for this class are curiosity and an open mind.
Registration required. Registration opens one month in advance.

Upcoming Sessions
March 28 | Screen Printing
Join printmaker and educator Nancy Ariza for a screen printing workshop using hand-cut paper stencils. Learn the fundamentals of screen printing through this accessible, low-tech process, which uses paper stencils cut with an X-Acto knife to create a design that is then attached to and printed using a screen. By the end of the session, you’ll create your own small edition of one-layer prints on paper. This is a beginner-friendly process. All skill levels are welcome.
April 11 | Art in Bloom Cyanotype
Explore the vibrant photographic process of cyanotypes with teaching artist Janae Alyse. This historic technique uses UV light to create detailed prints on surfaces. First, you’ll learn the basics of cyanotype by creating a test strip and transferring your first print to paper. Then you’ll experiment with multiple objects, exposure times, and techniques to create a custom set of four greeting cards inspired by the floral beauty of Art in Bloom. The result of cyanotype printing is magical and one of a kind!
April 25 | Terrariums
Make your own forest in a jar in this class all about terrariums. Join artist Savannah Tines to create a unique miniature landscape that blooms through all seasons. You’ll leave class with a completed terrarium, plus the skills to continue creating at home.
Note: You’ll work with materials that may stain clothing, including rocks, dirt, and plants, and instruments like tweezers that require good hand coordination. You’re welcome to bring in found objects to place inside your terrarium to liven up your green scene. The smaller the better!
