Upcoming Sessions
February 12 and February 14 | Partner Portraits
Show your partner or your bestie some love with this Valentine’s Day themed drawing lesson. This class is set up for two people to simultaneously draw each other, guided by Mia teaching artist Michael Gaughan. We’ll cover basic portrait drawing skills with you and your partner, and then you’ll have the rest of the hour to complete your drawings. All experience levels are welcome.
Note: There are two timed sessions available for each date. Each session has five spots available. One registration reserves a seat for you and your partner.
February 26 | Drawing Animals
Draw your favorite animal or pet with teaching artist Sophia Weisensel. The session starts with a look at animal-focused art in Mia’s collection. Then, we’ll head to the studio to begin drawing our animals in graphite and pen. You’ll learn how to draw features like fur and feathers, expressive eyes, light, and movement. Feel free to bring your own reference photo of an animal or follow along with the teacher’s selection.
February 28 | Working with Leather
Create your own leather accessory in this workshop led by teaching artist Mohamed Abdalla. Learn about the process of piecing and sewing leather materials together to create a unique leather accessory, perfect to carry around with you every day.
Note: You’ll use sewing needles in this class and will need good hand mobility.
March 12 | Visible Mending
Bring your artistic skills to your closet while you learn about visible mending. Tending to your clothes with intentional repairs can be a mindful, creative practice that helps reduce waste while tapping into your artistic side. This class, led by teaching artist Lauren Callis, will focus on visible mending techniques that suit woven materials. Bring items to class from you closet to repair in real time (cleaned garments only). We’ll also provide materials for you to work with to practice stitching and mending before moving on to your real clothing. All skill levels are welcome.
Note: You’ll work with needles, thread, and other materials that require good hand dexterity.
