Twin Cities Black Film Festival Opening Night: An Evening with Cory Hardrict

The Twin Cities Black Film Festival will kick off its 15th annual celebration with guest star and American Black Film Festival Award winner Cory Hardrict on October 12, 2017, at Mia. TCBFF will be showing the multi-award-winning movie, “Destined,” directed by ABFF Best Director award winner Qasim Basir, featuring Jesse Metcalf, Margot Bingham, Hill Harper, La La Anthony, and TCBFF’s opening night guest star, Cory Hardrict.

As ambitious architect Rasheed Smith (Hardrict) climbs the corporate ladder, he also lives a double life as a hardened criminal building his own drug empire. Uniquely captured through parallel lives, “Destined” grippingly explores the concept of how one moment can change a person’s entire future. From street violence to corporate corruption, Rasheed tackles obstacles in both worlds, while facing the trials and tribulations of fulfilling his destiny.

Short Films shown before “Destined” include: an Edu Festival Short Film Winner, directed by Melissa Moua (1.5 min.), “New Neighbors,” directed by E.G. Bailey (9 min.), “Suspect,” directed by Devar McGhee (6 min.), and “Art is Learning”, part of the “Art is Essential” short film series produced by Mia, and starring local artist, teacher, activist, and mother, Andrea Pierre (5 min.)

Cory Hardrict’s film credits include “American Sniper” with Bradley Cooper (2014), “Transcendence,” alongside Johnny Depp (2014), “Brotherly Love” (2015), “Car Dogs” with Octavia Spencer (March 2017), “All Eyez on Me” (June 2017), along with “Battle Los Angeles,” “Warm Bodies,” “When the Street Lights Go On,” and “Gran Torino.” Hardrict, a Chicago native, is a producer as well as an actor, and is married to Tia Mowry-Hardrict. They have one son.
