Vitality Arts: Bookbinding as a Life Skill

Create beautiful, functional art as you learn to make books with teaching artist Heidi Jeub. Bookbinding is the art of creating books by hand. From folding paper to sewing pages together, bookbinding combines skill, creativity, and craft.

In class, you’ll focus on book construction and creative exercises to generate content for your books. You’ll go into the galleries to sketch as a class (no prior drawing experience necessary) as well as to view paintings that evoke the concepts of memory and of recording everyday moments. Will you create a photo album for your favorite prints or a “brag” book? A travel journal? A sketchbook?
