Vitality Arts: Hand Building with Clay
Discover the creative possibilities of working with clay in this introductory hand-building class. We’ll explore foundational ceramic techniques, including pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction, while creating functional and sculptural pieces.
Teaching artist Evelyn Staats will guide you through demonstrations of essential hand-building methods, from forming and shaping to surface decoration and finishing touches. Along the way, find inspiration in Mia’s remarkable collection of ceramics through occasional gallery visits. Most class sessions are devoted to hands-on studio time, with opportunities for creative exploration, individual instruction, and group conversation as you develop your own unique ceramic work.
