Mia celebrates the Myron Kunin Collection of American Art, on loan to the museum, with a newly refreshed suite of galleries highlighting unique strengths of the collection. This is the second in a series of installations focusing on aspects of the Kunin Collection. Over four decades, Myron Kunin formed a visionary private collection of American art. Well over 100 works from the collection appear throughout the museum, integrated with Mia’s permanent collection in a range of different contexts. Three galleries on the third floor highlight aspects of the collection that reveal Kunin’s daring taste and thoughtful selections. This new installation includes a gallery devoted to modernists who trained or worked in Philadelphia for part of their careers (G359), one that explores ecstatic responses to nature (G360), and a gallery that shows the intense and imaginative ways artists used the human body and narrative in the period from 1920s to the 1950s (G361).
